This week marks the 6th and final chapter of this exciting series about the role of Sales and Marketing on Business Valuation with Matt Joy.
Part 6:
Watch this quick video below.
Do any of these sound like your business?
- “Our marketing and sales efforts are not documented”
- “We don’t have a marketing strategy.
- “We don’t use a CRM effectively
What is the role of marketing?
Systematising marketing processes to ensure a smooth transition for new ownership.
Matts Suggested 3 Questions to Ask yourself
- Why not get your team, not you, to produce the Standard Operating Procedures? Keep sending them back until they get them right. It empowers them and accelerates your move to becoming non-executive.
- Why not conduct a pipeline and CRM de-risking exercise? How is the CRM linked to your forward financial management forecasts, and how can conservatism be introduced to de-risk your projections? How is your Management, Sales and BDM time effectively triaged to service the pipeline?
- Can your lead pipeline and CRM system survive an investor interrogation to test for weakness and integrity?
So, where to start?
Marketing action items you must implement
- Documented Marketing SOPs within Digital Tool: A documented end-to-end monthly process so that if someone in the team is absent, the process still runs. This monthly process typically starts with the agreement of a key marketing theme, seasonal or service focus. This should be documented in a tool such as Monday, Asana, Trello.
- CRM & Automation Setup: A well-maintained CRM with clear workflows ensures continuity. Integrity of this data is really important.
- Performance Metrics & Reporting: Standardised KPIs and dashboards. For marketing, we recommend this should be within one master document which acts as the source of truth
