With the festive season and summer holidays right around the corner, we are certainly excited to wind down and enjoy some family time. However, whilst we enjoy some extra sleep and downtime, our brand presence should not. Worldwide, the festive season is one of the busiest periods for shopping both in store and on our devices and more so than ever, we are bombarded with ads across all channels.

In the midst of the chaos, it is important to optimise your brand with quality content, separating yourself from others.

So here are some of our favourite holiday marketing tips:

1. Switch on scheduling, so you can switch off

Everyone spends more time scrolling social media and researching online over the holiday period. No matter what your business is, there’s a chance that Christmas and the New Year could bring new customers (thanks Santa!). Therefore we encourage our clients to be active during the festive season. Lucky for us though, we can still have a holiday. Posting during this time can be made easy with tools such as Sprout Social, which allow the content to be uploaded and scheduled for posting in advance.

Quick tip: take the opportunity to create “lifestyle” focused content around your brand/products/services. It is the perfect time of year to create real-time, relatable content that will really engage with your audience. Hello Insta stories!

2. Cover the (easily forgotten) basics

Make sure you give existing and future customers full transparency of your holiday period.

Make sure you:

  • Update your email signature
  • Set up "out of office" replies
  • Update your Google My Business listing with holiday opening hours/days

Quick tip: To update your GMB: 1) Sign in to Google My Business 2) Open the location you'd like to manage 3) Click Website from the menu 4) Use the panel on the left side of the screen to select which part of your site to edit. If you get stuck, click here.

3) Do some planning, you’ll thank yourself later

As you may have seen on our Instagram (if not, click here and see), we are firm believers that this is the perfect time of year to get a little creative and map out your Jan-June content for 2019.

Quick tip: See our blog on the 6 things you can do in December to set yourself up for 2019.

2019 will be here in a flash! So by being prepared, you will be able to switch your mind off over Christmas, knowing that you are ready to start 2019 with a smooth bang!
