Built To Last - A Celebration on the Harbour

On Wednesday 18th February, Ask Marketing hosted a private client event unlike any we have held before.

Directors Ali and Stephanie King invited a select group of their clients from the engineering and construction sectors to step away from their desks and onto one of Australia’s most enduring structures - the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

The occasion marked our 2025 Christmas celebration.

The theme was simple.

Built To Last.

Not just structures. But businesses. And relationships.

The hand-sketched invitation was delivered to clients before Christmas last year.

Why the Harbour Bridge?

Few structures represent longevity, strength and precision like the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

A global icon, it stands as proof of what is possible when vision, engineering and commitment align. For the Directors of Ask Marketing, it felt fitting to bring together clients who are building the future of Australia’s infrastructure on a structure that has stood the test of time.

It was also personal. Both Ali an Stephanie’s early career began in B2C marketing.

Their weekends were (and are still) spent renovating apartments and working on property projects.

For years, marketing and construction felt like two separate worlds.

Over time, those worlds converged.

Today, Ask Marketing partners with engineering and construction businesses to build brands, demand and leadership teams that are designed for long-term success.

Hosting Built To Last on the Harbour Bridge symbolised that intersection.

8am - Climbing Together

Guests arrived at BridgeClimb Sydney in The Rocks for an 8:30am ascent. It was a 35 degree degree, without a cloud in the sky. The perfect Sydney summer morning.

The climb became more than a physical challenge. It created space to put our phones away and talk openly. Take a break from our businesses and to reflect. Space to connect without agendas or meeting rooms.

At the summit, overlooking Sydney Harbour, there was a shared sense of perspective.

CEOs of legacy engineering and construction companies stood alongside our leadership team - Vivian, Peta, Ali and Stephanie.

Laughter replaced inbox notifications. Conversations shifted from project deadlines to future ambitions. When you remove the boardroom, something changes. You see the person behind the title. That is where real relationships are built. And built to last.

12 noon - Lunch at Opera Bar

By midday, the group gathered for lunch overlooking the harbour.

The view was remarkable.

The conversations were even better.

One team member shared that she had never felt more fulfilled in her career.

That moment captured what Built To Last truly represents.

It is not just about client milestones.

It is about building a business where:

  • Values guide decisions
  • Leadership is intentional
  • Teams feel proud of the work they do
  • Clients become long-term partners

Built To Last Means…

For Ask Marketing, Built To Last is more than a campaign theme.

It reflects how we work with Owners and Directors preparing their businesses for growth, succession or sale.

We focus on:

  • Revenue predictability
  • Strong market positioning
  • Sales and marketing alignment
  • Retention and long-term customer value
  • Systems that operate beyond any single individual

In the engineering and construction sector, longevity matters.

Reputation matters.

Trust matters.

The same is true in marketing.

You cannot build enduring results on short-term tactics.

A Moment to Reflect

As Ali and Stephanie stood at the top of the bridge, there was a quiet acknowledgement of how far the journey has come.

Ten years ago, the path was not obvious.

Today, the alignment between profession, passion and people feels clear.

Built To Last was a celebration.

But it was also a commitment.

To continue building:

  • Stronger foundations
  • Stronger partnerships
  • Stronger outcomes
